Race A Chaser girls to clash at Warrnambool this Thursday

Megan Keeping Noakis Girl

TWO of Race A Chaser Syndications golden girls will go head-to-head in a spectacular clash this Thursday night, with Noakis Girl (box one) up against Megan Keeping (box three) over the 390 metre trip at Warrnambool.

Both bitches, who are both trained by Brett and Kelly Bravo, qualified for the $1,650-to-the-winner race courtesy of their respective all-the-way victories last week.

Megan Keeping, a daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Indigo Gem, was the first to face the starter last Thursday and she was emphatic from go to whoa.

After a sensational beginning from box one, the black bitch never looked in danger as she streaked clear to score by four and a half lengths in 22.30.

Following the victory, the final 10 per cent share in Megan was sold, with Megan now the winner of 18 races and $33,680 for the Race A Chaser Keeping Syndicate.

Co-trainer Kelly Bravo said she was happy with her performance, with Megan resuming from a short freshen up following a 25.41 win over the 450 metre journey three weeks prior.

“She was the best dog in the race and she won very convincingly – when you look at it some people might have thought that she would have gone a little bit quicker but considering she was up in weight I was happy with the run – I think she will be a lot better for it next week,” Bravo said.

Later that night, Noakis Girl stepped out for her heat, with the daughter of Big Daddy Cool and Noaki Pace also resuming from a short let up.

The 24.5 kilogram pocket rocket exploded from box eight and never gave anything else a chance, crossing to the fence and extending her lead to record a tenacious victory in 22.11.

“She did really well because she had to work hard to get to the lead, but once she got to the front she really got going,” Bravo explained.

Noakis Girl will hit the track for just the 11th time, but has already won sixes races with a further two minor placings. Bravo said the black speedster is responding well to moving up through the grades as she continues to improve and develop as a racer.

“It is starting to get a lot harder for her. Once you get up in the grades over the short sprints you have to begin flawlessly – obviously thats not going to happen all the time – but the other night she was nice and fresh and she was feeling good,” Bravo said.

“After this week we will look at stepping her up a little bit further – she might take a couple of runs to really get the 450 – but I think it is within her reach now.”

Megan Keeping and Noakis Girl will face a talented field on Thursday night, their main threat being Allen Terminator (box seven) which claimed its qualifier in a slick 22.06.

Despite being drawn against some handy types, Bravo remains confident that the Race A Chaser girls will perform well.

“The dog which qualified the fastest (Allen Terminator) has drawn box seven so it will have to cross the field and it might struggle,” she said.

“On paper I think Noaki is the one to beat because she is drawn perfectly and she had a terrific early split in her heat, but I am really happy with both of them.”

Megan Keeping and Noakis Girl are set to go around in race 10 at Warrnambool this Thursday night, with the event set to jump at 9:49pm AEDT.
