Off the scene for over 13 months after fracturing a hock at just her third start at Sandown Park back on 2nd May 2010, the courageous blue bitch has been entered for her first race since the accident and has been drawn in box 3.

Making her comeback in a 450m race, all eyes will be on the daughter of Black Enforcer x Wiedersehen in the hope she can return to racing in style and get around the Warrnambool one turn track safely.

A long and determined plan to give India the chance to race again, dared to come to fruition when after nine long months on the 10th February 2011, India was returned to the track for a trial behind the lure over 80m up the home straight at Warrnambool.

Although India had been allowed to free gallop to stress her hock during her recovery, this first trial would give us the indication of just how far she might progress.

It’s obvious now that she successfully completed that first trial back, but also showed more than enough speed to encourage the syndicate to dare to dream.

After a few more handslips and a few necessary breaks to get over injuries and allow the hock to settle back in to racing, India had her first trial from the boxes over 390m on 9th June 2011.

Not only did she complete the trial well but she gave enough indications she would not only make the comeback to racing, but also be competitive.

Still on the improve fitness wise, India will carry the hopes of a huge team in the Impact syndicate on Sunday afternoon in Race 4 at 1:59pm.

Across Australia India’s lucky owners will all have their undivided attention brought to bare on the diminutive 26kg blue bitch whose heart is unquestionable, and whose owner’s dared to dream.

With the star of the show What An Impact an impressive last start Shepparton winner, and all greyhounds now having faced the starter, there is still plenty of racing left in the syndicate.

To further excite, the greyhound who had broken her hock had her first trial back on the race track last week and came through with flying colours. Still a week to week proposition, she may yet make a return to the track.

The five greyhounds in the syndicate race as First Impact, Fatal Impact, What An Impact, Bilton Impact and Supreme Impact.

First Impact will be trialling again this week on the comeback trail.

What An Impact is racing tomorrow afternoon at Bendigo.

Both Fatal Impact and Bilton Impact will be nominated for races next week in South Australia and Victoria respectively.

From the five greyhounds, four have started and despite a luckless heart break for the syndicate when one of the stars broke her hock at just her third start, the other three have all won Victorian TAB and SA city class races and continue to perform well.

What An Impact resumes from a let-up on Wednesday night, looking to extend his record of 3 wins and 7 placings from just 15 starts; and Bilton Impact will also race at Ballarat after notching win number 2 from just the 10 starts and paying over $20 on the totes.

The fifth greyhound has today been sent to NSW to finalise training prior to his first start, and the greyhound who broke her hock continues to make progress back toward racing.

Now trained in South Australia by Kim Johnstone, Gizmo as she is affectionately known, showed her customary early speed when leading to the first mark after brushing runners to her inside.

When another greyhound joined and headed her on the first corner, she knuckled down to the task and chased resolutely overcoming the leader in the home straight to come away for a good win.

After a series of unlucky runs in Victoria, an “internal season” and then a prolonged period of not being able to gain a start; the win was ever the more sweeter for the Impact Syndicate members who had suffered a setback when syndicate sister First Impact suffered a fractured hock at Sandown earlier this year.

Fatal Impact will now line up in the maiden final on Monday night at Angle Park and we wish her, Kim and the whole Impact Syndicate the very best of luck from her box 1 draw.

Impact Syndicate Score Break Through Win With Fatal Impact At Angle Park

Undoubtedly beaten by the draw, Fatal Impact (Gizmo) began brilliantly from her wide draw but couldn’t quite cross the dog from box 2.

That left the 2 on the rail and Gizmo posted out where she doesn’t like to be.

After giving ground around the corner she was able to get back down on the rail and finished the race off nicely.

There is no doubt with her consistent beginnings, Fatal Impact will be in the winners circle soon and may just be the type that is capable of going right on with the job once she breaks her duck.

Close Again For Fatal Impact At Warrnambool

Sadly for First Impact and the syndicate, it was not the debut we’d hoped for.

Having missed the start, from her box 1 draw, she had to work hard to try to get near the lead in the run to the corner, and was working up inside about 5 greyhounds.

But the corner was always going to cause her some problems with so many greyhounds around her, and after copping the slightest of checks of the heels of the leader, she became unbalanced and immediately checked by the running rail or the 3 dog.

That check proved to be fatal for her chances, dragging her right off the track and out of the race.

A vet inspection after the race showed a very slight chest muscle strain from the interference.

Luckless Debut For First Impact At Bendigo

With a final worth $10,000 to the winner, there was always going to be some very good young greyhounds engaged.

Unfortunately, for Fatal Impact (Gizmo), she ran in to one of those good young dogs when the dog from box 8 got a clear run at her early and proved way too good.

Fatal Impact showed her normal customary dash to lead the field early, but the 8 dog came across and past her on the corner.

At the same time she got squeezed and checked back to third.

Holding down third in to the straight and after overcoming those checks and getting balanced in the run again, she tried valiantly in the straight, but at her first run over more than 390m, the effort had told and she cramped near the line, just missing out on third in a photo.

Fatal Impact Runs In To A Handy One At Bendigo

After qualifying for the final, after a noarrow second in the heat from a favourable draw, Fatal Impact (Gizmo) was alway going to have the task ahead of her from box 7 in the final.

Beginning brilliantly she managed to crash down over the field, upsetting the favourite in box 5 and nearly got all the way over to pressure the dog from box 1.

Unfortunately as she was pressuring the leader, the dog from box 8 that had followed her over, galloped on her heels and dragged her back through the field.

The good news was she pulled up well and uninjured and will be nominated for the Bendigo Goldrush maiden.

Fatal Impact Nearly Crosses Over From Her Wide Draw

Beginning from box 1 the syndicates very first runner was Gizmo, better known now as Fatal Impact.

Starting well favoured in the market she began brilliantly and held off challenges on the corner to lead in the to the home straight.

In the closest of finishes she was just caught by another runner, but has qualified for the Debutant final this Wednesday night.

The final should prove a very interesting race as the other heat winner Call Me Smithy has drawn box 5, with Gizmo drawing box 7.

As our syndicate members know, our girl goes hard left at the start and from box 7 she is likely to cause carnage to those inside her who dare to try to lead her.

Race A Chaser Impact Syndicate Debut With A Close Second

Both greyhounds are on target for starts in races soon and Impact Syndicate owners can be very proud of their charges, who look like giving many a dream introduction to greyhound racing ownership.
